OzFDM's PPA Filament

OzFDM PPA 3D printing filament is an ultra high performance engineering material designed for demanding industrial and mechanical applications where strength, heat resistance, and long term durability are critical. Based on high performance polyphthalamide chemistry, PPA delivers exceptional thermal stability, chemical resistance, stiffness, and mechanical strength beyond traditional nylon materials.

This filament is ideal for manufacturing advanced functional components, automotive parts, tooling, structural brackets, and end use applications exposed to elevated temperatures and harsh environments. OzFDM PPA offers excellent layer adhesion, strong dimensional stability, and outstanding mechanical reliability when printed with the appropriate high temperature setup. Manufactured under strict QA standards, this material provides a professional grade solution for engineers, industrial users, and advanced makers seeking premium engineering performance.

Tough. Consistent. Reliable.

PPA Colour Range

Boost your engineering projects with the OzFDM PPA range, available in versatile Black and Natural. Engineered for tough applications, each spool delivers flawless extrusion and high quality results, making it the ideal choice for production parts, functional prototypes, and mechanical components.

Disclaimer on Colour Accuracy: The filament colours displayed above have been specified using online hex code sources and may vary slightly from the actual physical product due to differences in screen calibration, lighting, and digital representation. Please note that this colour range is subject to refinement once our Nix Mini 3 Colour Sensor arrives, allowing us to assess and scan each filament shade in person for greater accuracy.

Optimising your hardware setup for stiff, high temperature PPA filaments.

System Integration & Printing Best Practices

  • Pure polyphthalamide (PPA) filaments, such as the OzFDM PPA range, are generally not officially recommended for standard AMS systems because they are exceptionally stiff, highly abrasive, and incredibly prone to moisture absorption.
  • To get PPA running smoothly without damaging your equipment, it is best fed via a direct spool mount rather than an AMS channel, and it requires a hardened steel nozzle to handle the tough material.
  • Additionally, because PPA is highly hygroscopic, you must thoroughly dry the filament (typically at 80–100°C) before printing and feed it directly from a dedicated active heated drybox to maintain structural integrity.

Engineered for Extreme Environments

Exceptional Thermal and Chemical Resistance

OzFDM PPA stands out for its outstanding thermal stability, allowing printed parts to retain their mechanical strength and structural integrity even when exposed to elevated temperatures.

In addition to its impressive heat deflection capabilities, this high performance polyphthalamide chemistry also has strong resistance to harsh chemicals, automotive fluids, and industrial solvents.

This makes it an invaluable material for producing automotive components, specialised tooling, and machinery parts that operate in aggressive chemical environments.

Superior Mechanical Strength and Stiffness

Engineered to outperform traditional nylon materials, PPA delivers exceptional tensile strength, rigidity, and impact resistance.

Its advanced formulation ensures excellent layer adhesion and high dimensional stability, minimising warping during the printing process.

This results in incredibly tough, heavy duty components capable of withstanding significant mechanical stress, making it the ideal choice for load bearing structural brackets, gears, and advanced functional prototypes.

Long Term Industrial Durability

Designed for end use applications, OzFDM PPA is built to endure long term wear and environmental exposure without degrading.

Its reliable formulation ensures that finished parts maintain their premium, professional grade finish and structural properties over extended life cycles.

Whether used by engineers for custom manufacturing or by advanced makers for rugged outdoor applications, this filament provides the ultimate dependability needed for high stakes engineering projects.
