The Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro is one of the fastest budget printers available to Australian makers, offering print speeds up to 500 mm/s with advertised acceleration figures that compete with machines twice its price. In practice, real world speeds of 200–300 mm/s are achievable without significant quality loss, making it a genuine step up from older budget machines.
The direct drive extruder handles PLA, PETG, and TPU reliably. The 260°C hot end covers the full range of standard filaments stocked by OzFDM in the PLA and PETG categories. The automatic levelling system uses a LeviQ 2.0 probe and 25-point bed mesh compensation, and the process takes under two minutes.
The Kobra 2 Pro ships partially assembled and requires about 15–20 minutes of final assembly, making it one of the quickest machines to get printing from the box in its price bracket. Print quality out of the box is strong for PLA, though PETG may need retraction tuning to eliminate stringing.
Anycubic has significantly improved its slicer (Anycubic Slicer, based on Orca/Bambu Slicer), and it ships with reasonable preset profiles. The machine is also compatible with Orca Slicer and PrusaSlicer, providing access to the broader community profile libraries.
