OzFDM PA6 Nylon Filament

OzFDM PA6 Nylon is a high strength engineering filament designed for durable functional parts that must withstand impact, movement and repeated mechanical stress. It combines excellent toughness with strong layer bonding, allowing printed components to maintain their integrity in demanding workshop, automotive and industrial applications.

Its resistance to wear and friction makes it ideal for gears, bushings, clips, brackets, hinges, protective housings, fixtures and working prototypes. PA6 Nylon also offers good heat and chemical resistance, supporting parts that may be exposed to oils, greases and challenging operating conditions.

Compared with PA12, PA6 generally provides greater strength and rigidity when properly dried and printed. However, it absorbs moisture more readily and requires careful drying, storage and printing conditions to achieve consistent surface quality, dimensional accuracy and mechanical performance.

Two Essential Shades

PA6 Nylon Colour Range

The OzFDM PA6 Nylon range is available in two versatile shades, Black and White.

Black provides a clean and professional appearance suited to mechanical components, workshop tools, engineering prototypes and industrial parts. White offers a bright neutral finish that makes details easier to inspect and provides an ideal base for technical models, custom finishing and functional applications.

Both shades deliver the same dependable PA6 Nylon performance, allowing you to select the appearance that best suits your project.

Smart System Ready

AMS Compatibility and Moisture Control

PA6 Nylon can be used with AMS systems that support PA materials, provided the spool fits correctly and the filament remains completely dry. Always confirm compatibility with your specific printer, AMS model and spool requirements before printing.

PA6 is highly sensitive to moisture and can absorb humidity quickly when exposed to the air. The filament should be thoroughly dried before printing and stored in a sealed container with fresh desiccant.

A sealed AMS can help protect the material during use, although feeding directly from a suitable dry box may provide greater consistency for longer or more demanding prints.

For the best results, use reliable bed adhesion, stable printing temperatures and an enclosed printing environment where recommended by your printer and filament settings.

High Strength and Impact Resistance

Toughness, Heat Resistance and Reliable Performance

Built to Withstand Mechanical Stress

PA6 Nylon offers an excellent combination of strength, toughness and impact resistance.

It can absorb sudden force, vibration and repeated movement while maintaining the structural integrity required for functional components.

This makes it well suited to brackets, clips, protective housings, fixtures and mechanical parts that experience regular handling or applied force.

When printed dry and under stable conditions, PA6 produces dependable parts for demanding practical applications.

Designed for Moving and Working Components

PA6 Nylon provides strong resistance to abrasion, friction and repeated mechanical contact.

This makes it an effective material for gears, bushings, guides, hinges and components that must remain functional during regular movement.

Its heat resistance also allows printed parts to perform in conditions where standard materials such as PLA may soften or lose stability.

This makes PA6 suitable for workshop, automotive and industrial applications requiring greater durability.

Reliable Strength Throughout the Part

When properly dried and printed under controlled conditions, PA6 Nylon produces strong adhesion between layers.

This helps printed parts resist splitting and maintain dependable strength throughout the complete model.

Strong layer bonding supports complex functional components, working prototypes and parts exposed to stress from multiple directions.

Careful moisture control and stable printing conditions are essential for achieving the best possible finish and mechanical performance.

As this is a new addition to the OzFDM range, complete technical specifications are not yet available. Detailed printing settings and performance information will be added soon. Please check back soon for updates and contact us if you have any questions or queries.

Drying recommendation:

80°C for a minimum of 12 hours using a filament dryer / food dehydrator. We recommend 80°C for 24 Hours as we found it was still stringing a little after 12 hours, depending on your type of dryer.

Storage recommendation:

Airtight bag or container with desiccant in a cool, dark and dry area to prevent moisture absorption. For optimal long term storage we recommend drying the filament prior to sealing the filament spool in a vacuum bag with desiccant.
