AMS-Compatible? Not Recommended

PLA Glow in the Dark Rainbow is a standard PLA base, but the additives of the phosphorescent powder make the filament highly abrasive, which can affect consistent printing on your AMS. Printing with caution and specific modifications to your AMS makes it possible to create quality prints.
However, if you are printing consistently with PLA GITDR on an AMS machine, you are more likely to create wear on internal components a lot quicker than when using highly compatible filaments. Damages can specifically occur to the feeding funnels, as well as wear on standard brass nozzles and PTFE tubes.

Tips & Tricks

If using the AMS machine:

Watch consistently increased friction, which may cause unloading/loading errors
Load the GITDR filament directly into the printer using an external spool holder, bypassing AMS entirely.
GITDR filament is hygroscopic, so it should be adequately dried prior to usage
Use larger hardened steel nozzles recommended for ease of printing
Print on larger models to allow the colour gradient to shift
Increase wall thickness and infill
Increase retraction distance to combat stringing, which is common with these filaments.

Drying recommendation: 40°C – 45°C for 4–6 hours using a filament dryer / food dehydrator.

Print Parameters

PLA Glow in the Dark Rainbow prints at standard PLA temperatures, but the phosphorescent pigment is abrasive. Use a hardened steel nozzle (a 0.6 mm nozzle makes printing easier) and feed it from an external spool holder rather than the AMS. Set up this way, it offers good adhesion, smooth extrusion and consistent colour transitions across every layer.
