Support Materials

Support materials print alongside your model and then disappear. PVA dissolves in water and pairs with PLA; HIPS dissolves in limonene and pairs with ABS and ASA. Both need a second extruder or an AMS-style multi-material setup, and both reward you with clean overhangs and geometry you could not otherwise print.
