From rustic ornaments and figurines to custom signage and artistic designs, OzFDM PLA Wood filament delivers professional looking results with a unique organic aesthetic. With a consistent 1.75 mm diameter and reliable print behaviour, it is the perfect filament to bring natural inspired creations to life with confidence and creativity.
Two Wood Tones. Endless Creative Possibilities.
Nature, Layer by Layer - PLA Wood Shade Range
OzFDM PLA Wood is available in two carefully selected shades designed to capture the warmth and character of real timber, each offering a natural matte finish with subtle organic texture.
Both shades can be lightly sanded, stained, or sealed after printing to further enhance the wood like finish and customise your final result.

PLA Wood = AMS friendly
OzFDM PLA Wood filament is compatible with the Bambu Lab AMS and AMS Lite systems. However, because PLA Wood contains fine wood fibres, it is slightly more abrasive than standard PLA and benefits from a few simple precautions.
- Use a hardened steel nozzle for long term printing
- Ensure filament is dry before loading
- Avoid very small nozzle sizes (0.4 mm or larger recommended)
- Periodically check AMS feed paths for dust buildup
Performance, Finish and Printability
PLA Wood – Crafted For Makers
Natural Wood-Like Finish
- PLA Wood is blended with fine wood fibres to produce a warm, matte surface that closely resembles real timber.
- Prints feature subtle grain texture and an organic appearance, making them ideal for decorative models, display pieces, and artistic creations that benefit from a natural look.
- The material can be lightly sanded, stained, or sealed after printing, allowing you to enhance the finish and customise its final appearance to suit your project.
Easy to Print
- PLA Wood is designed to print smoothly on most desktop 3D printers with similar ease to standard PLA.
- It offers consistent extrusion, good flow stability, and reliable layer adhesion, helping reduce common issues such as stringing and inconsistent layers.
- With low warping and forgiving print behaviour, it is well suited to beginners and experienced makers alike.
No Enclosure Needed
- PLA Wood prints well on open frame printers and does not require a heated enclosure.
- It performs reliably at typical PLA temperature ranges, making it accessible for home users, classrooms, and workshops.
- This makes PLA Wood a convenient choice for creating detailed, wood style prints without complex setup or specialised equipment.

Understanding PLA Wood
- PLA Wood scores highest in ease of printing, highlighting its user friendly nature and reliable performance across most desktop 3D printers.
- The material shows lower strength, heat resistance, and flexibility when compared to engineering grade filaments, which reflects its primary purpose as a decorative and aesthetic focused filament rather than a structural one.
- Moderate moisture sensitivity indicates that proper storage is important to maintain print quality, while lower UV resistance means PLA Wood is best suited for indoor applications.
- Overall, these results position PLA Wood as an excellent choice for visually striking models, display pieces, and creative projects, where appearance and surface finish are prioritised over mechanical performance.

Drying recommendation:
40°C – 45°C for 4–6 hours using a filament dryer / food dehydrator.
Storage recommendation:
Airtight bag or container with desiccant in a cool, dark and dry area to prevent moisture absorption. For optimal long term storage we recommend drying the filament prior to sealing the filament spool in a vacuum bag with desiccant.
Biodegradable under commercial composting conditions. Please do not throw into your compost bin at home.
Here you will find recommended printing guidelines to help achieve the best surface finish, layer adhesion, and extrusion consistency when using PLA Wood. Following these parameters will ensure smooth printing and help reduce the likelihood of clogging, stringing, or inconsistent flow.
