Thread forming screws are quicker: model a plain blind hole (about 1.8mm for the 3mm screws, 2.5mm for the 4mm screws), drive the screw in and it forms its own thread. They suit parts you assemble once. For lids, access panels and anything you will open and close often, heat set inserts give a stronger, reusable brass thread.
