OzFDM PLA Glow in the Dark 1.75mm 1KG is a professional-grade 3D printing filament. This PLA material is perfect for all those wanting to create glow in the dark 3D designs. Quality assured, the filament will ensure uniform and stable printing performance for all your projects.

OzFDM Glow in the Dark PLA Filament

By bringing prints to life when the lights go out, OzFDM's 1.75mm Glow in the Dark PLA makes 3D printing even more exciting and creates even better prints. Our popular PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament is combined with powdered phosphorescent pigment, typically Strontium Aluminate, to produce our Glow in the Dark PLA, which retains the pigments of direct light and produces a prominent glow in low light or darkness. For printers who wish to include personality and functionality in their prints without compromising print quality, it is an intriguing and unique choice.

The combination of PLA and Strontium Aluminate powder can cause standard brass nozzles to wear down very quickly; hardened steel nozzles are required in order to ensure a smooth printing experience. PLA Glow in the Dark filament offers an experience that is not only enjoyable but also reliable for producing prints that are noticeable both during the day and after dark, provided that the appropriate setup is used. PLA Glow in the Dark can be used in a wide variety of applications, including beautiful models and novelty printing, as well as useful markers, signage, and safety indicators.

Bright Filament Ready for any Print

Print After Dark– PLA Glow in the Dark Colour Range

We offer 8 distinct colours of PLA Glow in the Dark filament, each produced with a consistent formulation designed to deliver reliable pigmentation and bright, vibrant glow effects.

Every colour is engineered to perform consistently across prints, ensuring bold finishes that stand out both in daylight and after dark.

Disclaimer on Colour Accuracy: The filament colours displayed above have been specified using online hex code sources and may vary slightly from the actual physical product due to differences in screen calibration, lighting, and digital representation. Please note that this colour range is subject to refinement once our Nix Mini 3 Colour Sensor arrives, allowing us to assess and scan each filament shade in person for greater accuracy.

Setup is key; Upgrades are necessary.

AMS-Compatible? Yes, with some tweaking.

PLA Glow in the Dark can be used with an AMS machine with the correct setup. The abrasiveness of the phosphorescent particles can, over long-term use, damage a standard AMS's nozzles, funnels, and gears, along with the possibility of feed failures or jams.

Using the AMS machine can produce quality print results, much like standard PLA if proceeded with caution, and implementing upgrades such as hardened nozzles and accepting the possible risks.

PLA Glow in the Dark

Why We Think You Will Love It

Bright Glow Effect

When exposed to sunlight or intense indoor lighting, Glow in the Dark PLA charges and retains the light particles, allowing it to gradually release the energy it has stored as a visible glow.

If you want the effect to be as strong as possible, use walls that are thicker and infill that is higher so that there is more glowing material in the part.

Because the glow from your print can be quite vivid and visible depending on the setting and how long it has been charging in the light, it is an excellent filament option for prints that need to provide light.

Easy printing, PLA Friendly

PLA Glow in the Dark filament is designed to come across as somewhat familiar on the majority of desktop printers, despite the fact that it has a slightly abrasive quality.

You are able to achieve clean details and consistent results without the need for an enclosure if you use temperatures that are reasonable, have adequate cooling, and make any necessary modifications to your printer, such as hardening the nozzles.

Perfect for Functional Visibility

Glow in the Dark PLA goes beyond novelty by improving visibility in low light spaces, helping everyday items stand out when lighting is limited.

It is well suited to light switches, tool markers, cable tags, and emergency labels, as well as kids room decor where locating objects at night is helpful without turning on bright lights.

This balance of function and creativity makes Glow in the Dark PLA a smart choice for both practical applications and playful designs.

Drying recommendation:

40°C – 45°C for 4–6 hours using a filament dryer / food dehydrator.

Storage recommendation:

Airtight bag or container with desiccant in a cool, dark and dry area to prevent moisture absorption. For optimal long term storage we recommend drying the filament prior to sealing the filament spool in a vacuum bag with desiccant.

Biodegradable under commercial composting conditions. Please do not throw into your compost bin at home.

Print Parameters

Due to the slight abrasiveness of the combination of PLA and powdered phosphorescent pigment, it can be slightly difficult to print with if you are a beginner; however, it can print seamlessly with most machines and without an enclosure.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions if you are unsure!

For best results, follow the recommended print parameters provided below to achieve reliable, high-quality prints every time.

Mechanical Properties

Glow in the Dark PLA is best suited to light duty prints where appearance and visibility are the priority. It is typically less tough than PLA+ and more comparable to standard PLA for everyday strength, so it is not ideal for high load parts or heat exposed applications.

For a deeper look at strength, durability, and tested material performance, refer to the mechanical property data outlined below.

Physical Properties

Phosphorescent pigment gives the filament its glow effect and a slightly textured look compared to standard PLA. Glow intensity depends on pigment concentration, wall thickness, infill, and how long the part is exposed to a strong light source.

For a closer look at density, flow rate, and moisture resistance, see the physical property data outlined below.
