High Speed PLA is modified to melt and extrude evenly at higher speeds. OzFDM rates it from 60 to 350 mm/s; on the XL we run it at 150 mm/s and cap print moves at 200 mm/s. |

Strength drops across the layers: tensile strength is 45 – 49 MPa along the layers (X-Y) but 35 – 40 MPa between them (X-Z). Orient load-bearing parts so the force runs along the layers. |

The XL runs Input Shaper using an accelerometer that Prusa calibrates at the factory, which is what lets it hold these speeds without the ringing an older machine would show. |

Multi-tool: tool changes, not print speed, set the pace of a multi-colour XL job. Each change parks one toolhead, picks up the next and primes it on the wipe tower, so keep colour changes per layer to a minimum when time matters. |

Slicer: PrusaSlicer with the Prusa XL printer profile and a 0.4 mm nozzle. Dry the filament at 40 – 45 °C for 4 – 6 h before a long print; every figure above assumes dry filament. |

Troubleshooting |

Rough walls or gaps at full speed: The hotend is running short of melted filament. Raise the nozzle to 220 °C or slow print moves to 120 mm/s. |

Warped corners on large, fast prints: Add a brim, keep the bed at 60 °C and wash the sheet with warm soapy water. |

Stringing: Dry at 40 – 45 °C for 4 – 6 h, then drop the nozzle 5 °C. |
