Printing Notes

ASA holds its colour and strength outdoors, which makes it a strong choice for parts that live in the Australian sun. OzFDM ASA has a heat deflection temperature of 88 °C.

For large or warp-prone parts, set the chamber temperature to about 60 °C in the Bambu Studio filament settings so the chamber is warm before the first layer goes down. Small parts print well without chamber heating.

Do not load PLA, PETG or TPU in the other hotend while the chamber is heated. Bambu Lab advises against loading low-temperature filaments above a 45 °C chamber because they soften and clog.

Keep the part cooling fan low and the auxiliary fan off, since ASA layers bond best with little cooling. Keep the door closed so the H2D can filter fumes, and print in a ventilated room.

Slicer: Bambu Studio. Start from the Generic ASA filament preset and set the temperatures above. Every figure assumes dry filament, so dry at 80 °C for at least 5 h before a long print.

Troubleshooting

Corners lift on large parts: Turn on chamber heating at 60 °C, keep the door closed and add a brim. Raise the bed to 110 °C if it is lower.

Weak bonding or cracks between layers: Cooling is too high. Set the fan to 0 – 10 % except for bridges and raise the nozzle to 255 °C.

Bubbles or a rough, pitted surface: Damp filament. Dry the roll at 80 °C for at least 5 h.
