Retraction Note

  • Matte PLA strings about as little as standard PLA. If fine hairs appear, lower the nozzle 5 °C before adding retraction.

Printing Notes

OzFDM recommends 220 °C for Matte PLA, a little hotter than PLA+ or PLA Basic, so do not reuse your standard PLA temperatures.

Matte PLA comes on a standard 200 mm AMS-compatible spool, so it runs from the AMS without re-spooling.

The low-gloss surface hides layer lines, so 0.20 mm layers already look clean on display parts. Drop to 0.16 mm only where fine detail matters.

The H2D sets its chamber fans and top vent by filament type, so keep a PLA preset selected and leave chamber heating off. Bambu Lab warns that a hot chamber can soften PLA in the extruder and cause clogs.

Slicer: Bambu Studio. Start from the Generic PLA filament preset and set the temperatures above. Every figure assumes dry filament, so dry at 40 – 45 °C for 4 – 6 h before a long print.

Tested on our Bambu Lab H2D with a 0.4 mm nozzle, September 2026.

Troubleshooting

Rough or fuzzy surface: Damp filament. Dry the roll at 40 – 45 °C for 4 – 6 h and print from a sealed container in humid weather.

Weak layers on functional parts: Raise the nozzle to 225 °C and slow the outer walls to 60 mm/s.

Corners lifting on large flat parts: Wash the plate with warm water and dish soap, then raise the bed to 60 °C.
