Retraction Note

  • PLA+ is tougher than PLA Basic but prints at the same low temperatures. The default 0.8 mm retraction suits it, so cure stringing with temperature and dry filament first.

Printing Notes

PLA+ comes on a 200 mm AMS-compatible spool with thicker 2.5 mm walls, so it loads straight into the AMS without re-spooling.

OzFDM's data sheet lists 60 – 90 mm/s for PLA+. Bambu Studio's standard process presets run much faster, so lower the wall and infill speeds in the process settings, or set a lower max volumetric speed in the filament preset.

The H2D sets its chamber fans and top vent by filament type, so keep a PLA preset selected and leave chamber heating off. Bambu Lab warns that a hot chamber can soften PLA in the extruder and cause clogs.

PLA+ is less brittle than standard PLA, which makes it a good pick for indoor clips, brackets and jigs. Its heat deflection temperature is still 53 °C, so keep parts out of hot cars.

Slicer: Bambu Studio. Start from the Generic PLA filament preset and set the temperatures above. Every figure assumes dry filament, so dry at 40 – 45 °C for 4 – 6 h before a long print.

Troubleshooting

Fine strings across the print: Dry the roll at 40 – 45 °C for 4 – 6 h, then drop the nozzle to 210 °C.

Rough walls or gaps when printing fast: Speeds are above the PLA+ data sheet range. Bring the wall and infill speeds back to 60 – 90 mm/s.

First layer not sticking: Wash the plate with warm water and dish soap, raise the bed to 60 °C and slow the first layer to 20 mm/s.
