Printing Notes

PETG Basic shares its print window with OzFDM PETG+. It is the value option for functional parts that do not need the extra toughness.

Dry it. PETG Basic picks up moisture as readily as any PETG, and a damp roll is the single most common cause of a bad PETG print.

The V3 SE's Sprite-style direct-drive extruder is a large improvement on the Bowden Ender 3s — retraction around 1 mm rather than the 5 – 6 mm those needed.

It has automatic bed levelling but no enclosure, so keep it out of draughts and away from open windows.

Slicer: Creality Print / OrcaSlicer. Dry the filament at 70 °C / ≥ 5 h before a long print — every figure above assumes dry filament.

 

Troubleshooting

Stringing and popping sounds while printing — Moisture. Dry at 70 °C for at least five hours and store with desiccant afterwards.

Poor bed adhesion despite a hot bed — Clean the sheet with IPA. PETG is sensitive to finger oils in a way PLA is not.

Prints stick to the bed too well and damage the sheet — Drop the bed to 60 °C and raise Z offset slightly. PETG bonds aggressively to smooth PEI.
