OzFDM PA12 Nylon Filament
OzFDM PA12 Nylon is a durable engineering filament designed for strong, flexible and reliable functional parts. It combines excellent impact resistance with natural flexibility, allowing printed components to absorb stress and movement without becoming excessively brittle.
Its strong resistance to wear makes it ideal for gears, clips, bushings, brackets, protective housings, mechanical components and working prototypes. PA12 Nylon also offers good resistance to oils, fuels, greases and many common chemicals, making it suitable for demanding workshop, automotive and industrial applications.
Compared with PA6, PA12 absorbs less moisture and maintains greater dimensional stability in changing conditions. However, it should still be kept dry and stored correctly to achieve smooth extrusion, strong layer bonding and consistent print quality.

Smart System Ready
AMS Compatibility and Moisture Control
PA12 Nylon can be used with standard AMS systems that support PA materials, provided the spool fits correctly and the filament remains dry. Always confirm compatibility with your specific printer, AMS model and spool requirements before printing.
Because nylon is sensitive to moisture, the filament should be dried before use and stored with fresh desiccant. A sealed AMS can help protect the spool during printing, although feeding directly from a dry box may provide greater consistency for long or demanding engineering prints.
For the best results, use stable printer temperatures, reliable bed adhesion and an enclosed printing environment where recommended by your printer and filament settings.

PA12 Nylon offers an excellent combination of toughness, flexibility and impact resistance.
Rather than behaving like a rigid and brittle material, it can absorb movement, vibration and sudden force while maintaining its structural integrity.
This makes it well suited to clips, brackets, protective housings, snap fit components and mechanical parts that experience repeated handling or movement.
Its natural flexibility also allows thin sections to bend under pressure and recover more effectively than many standard printing materials.
Improved Stability Among Nylon Materials
PA12 absorbs less moisture than many other nylon materials, including PA6.
This helps printed parts maintain more consistent dimensions and mechanical performance when exposed to changing humidity.
Its lower moisture sensitivity also makes PA12 easier to handle and store than more absorbent nylon materials.
However, drying before printing is still recommended, as absorbed moisture can cause bubbling, stringing, rough surfaces and reduced layer strength.
