Rock Tray

Some trays look like trays. This one looks like a smooth river stone that washed up on your coffee table. The organic, asymmetric silhouette curves and dips exactly the way a real pebble would, and the lightly pebbled top surface catches the light in a way that flat, moulded plastic never does. Underneath, the tray is hollow and open at both ends, like a little stone tunnel. Three holes are built into the base ready for 10mm rubber feet, so it sits flat and steady rather than rocking on an uneven tabletop. Turn it on its end and the same tunnel becomes a vase opening, perfect for a single dried stem, a trimmed branch or a cut of pampas. It will not win any prizes for holding a full bunch of fresh flowers, but as a sculptural stand for one striking stem it is hard to beat.
