Tinder Fungus Shelf

Real tinder fungus grows in tiered, ribbed shelves up a tree trunk, and this wall piece captures that exact silhouette. Concentric ridges fan out from a cluster of overlapping lobes, each one a little smaller than the last, so the whole shelf reads like a colony caught mid growth. It is 3D printed in PLA+ with a raw, unsanded finish, which actually works in the fungus's favour: the visible print lines double as the fine growth rings you would find on the real thing. A flat plate is built into the back with two screw holes, or you can glue it flat to the wall if you would rather skip the drill. The top surface is wide and level enough to hold more than you would expect from something this organic. We photographed ours holding a trio of little toy boats, but a small succulent, a candle, or a favourite trinket sits just as happily. Designed by Gazzaladra Design and printed to order here in Australia, usually ready within one to two days. It leans naturally toward pale, woody tones (think white, bone, natural or light brown) so it reads like something that really did grow there, rather than something bolted on.
