The Bambu Lab P1S sits between the entry-level P1P and the flagship X1 Carbon. It shares the same fully enclosed metal build chamber as the X1C, which is crucial for printing ABS, ASA, Nylon, and Polycarbonate reliably in Australia's varying climates. Unlike the P1P, the P1S ships with panels on all sides, turning the enclosure into a genuine temperature stable environment rather than just a partial windbreak.
Where the P1S differs from the X1C is the lack of the Lidar sensor and the carbon fibre reinforced frame (hence the price difference). In practice, the P1S still produces exceptional results: the same high speed CoreXY motion system, the same hotend capable of 300°C, and full AMS compatibility for multi-colour jobs.
The P1S offers a compelling sweet spot for Australian makers who desire the Bambu ecosystem, including the excellent Bambu Studio slicer, without the full cost of the X1C. It handles nearly every filament offered by OzFDM without the upgrades you'd need on open frame machines.
The P1S is also compatible with the AMS unit (sold separately), enabling multi-colour and multi material printing. The purge system, automatic bed levelling, and vibration compensation all carry over from the X1C platform, keeping calibration effort low and print success rate high.
ProsFully enclosed without paying X1C prices AMS compatible for multi-colour printing 300°C hot end for engineering filaments Fast CoreXY motion system Excellent slicer software included |
ConsNo Lidar first layer inspection (unlike X1C) Proprietary Bambu ecosystem AMS sold separately |
Best For
- Engineering filament printing (ABS, ASA, Nylon, PC)
- High speed PLA/PETG production
- Multi-colour with AMS add on
- Makers stepping up from open-frame printers
