The Bambu Lab P1P is the open frame sibling to the P1S. It uses the same CoreXY motion system, the same 300°C hardened steel hot end, and the same automatic calibration routines, but ships without the enclosure side panels. This brings the price down meaningfully while keeping every performance advantage for materials that don't need an enclosed environment.
For Australian makers primarily running PLA, PLA+, PETG, Silk, and Matte filaments, the lack of an enclosure is no disadvantage. The P1P's speed (up to 500 mm/s), AMS compatibility, and large 256 mm build volume make it a compelling option in its price bracket.
The P1P is also popular as a platform for DIY enclosure conversions, Bambu sells an official enclosure kit, and the community has developed a range of printed solutions. This makes the P1P a smart buy for makers who might want to print ABS or ASA in the future: buy the machine now, add the enclosure when the need arises.
Like all Bambu printers, the P1P ships with Bambu Studio, which includes excellent preset profiles for PLA, PETG, and a growing library of engineering materials. The AMS unit enables multi-colour and multi-material printing with up to four spools.
